The Alfred Nobel List

Alfred Nobel, the Swedish scientist and inventor of dynamite, was born 181 years ago.  After a French newspaper mistakenly reported on his death with a headline calling the explosives manufacturer “the merchant of death”, Alfred decided to alter his legacy by establishing the Nobel Prizes.  Today we’re honoring that spirit with a list that celebrates exploration, innovation and discovery.  Science fact or science fiction, these films are about those who push the boundaries and expand our minds…in the laboratory and in the cinema.

15 Feisty Feminist Flicks

Emma Watson’s recent speech at the UN on FEMINISM has everyone talking. And for good reason. It’s smart, powerful and it takes on an agenda that often gets unfairly stigmatized and misinterpreted as anti-male. We need feminism more than ever to foster equality, particularly in countries where the lack of resources and educational opportunities available to women hinders the progress of the entire population. Information We Collect

Some of our Services also allow you to invite your friends to join our services and to connect with you through social media features. Inviting friends is always optional. To do so, you may provide their contact information or may enter your log-in credentials to import email addresses from your address book from other sites that support such functionality (e.g., Gmail and Facebook). You select the friends you want to invite to share in this experience.

Information from other sources/social networking sites: You can also engage with our content, such as film lists and other offerings, on or through (1) third-party social networking sites, such as Facebook, (2) third-party social media plug-ins and applications, and (3) our social media plug-ins and applications that may be available through third-party sites or our Services. You may also choose to link your account with us to third party social networking sites. When you link your account or engage with our content on or through third party social networking sites, social media plug-ins or applications, you agree to allow us to have ongoing access to and to collect certain information from your social media profile (e.g., name, e-mail address, photo, gender, birthday, location, your list of friends, people you follow and/or who follow you, the posts or the 'likes' you make). Personalization: We enable a feature that allows you to instantly personalize your experience using the information that has been gathered through your use of Flicklist as well as additional data that is collected, with your authorization, from any authenticated third-party, including but not limited to Netflix, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Personalization lets you bring your friends and movie interests with you as you explore our Services where we have this feature enabled. To use this feature, you must have a Facebook account, be signed in, and ensure ‘Personalization’ is turned on in your Facebook privacy settings. Once enabled, ‘Personalization’ will provide the Service using this feature with the public information you make available from your Facebook account. For example, you may see your first name, profile picture, and your friends' reviews the next time you access our Website.

How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information you submit to operate, maintain, and provide to you the features and functionality of the Service. We also have the right to use your personal information and User Content to enforce the terms of the Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy and protect the rights and safety of others.

Any personal information or content that you disclose for posting to the Service (for instance, in User Content you post) becomes available to the public via the Service and our business partners. If you remove User Content, copies may remain viewable in cached and archived pages or if other users have copied or stored your User Content.

Flicklist takes reasonable measures to keep messages that you send to other Members through the Service private between you and the recipient. However, even if you have deleted the message from your Flicklist inbox or outbox, copies of the message may remain viewable in cached and archived pages or if other users have copied or stored the message.

By providing Flicklist your email address you consent to our using the email address to send you Service-related notices, including any notices required by law, in lieu of communication by postal mail. We also have the right to use your email address to send you other messages, such as newsletters, changes to features of the Service, or special offers. If you do not want to receive such email messages, you may opt out by changing your settings on the My Account page. Opting out may prevent you from receiving email messages regarding updates, improvements, or offers. You may not opt out of Service-related e-mails.

Your name and, depending on privacy settings, email address, are used when you invite another person to join Flicklist, or when you request to add another member to your friends list.

Flicklist has the right to use certain information about you and/or your User Content without identifying you as an individual to third parties. We do this for purposes such as analyzing how the Service is used, diagnosing service or technical problems, maintaining security, and personalizing advertisements and promotions.

Flicklist has the right to develop special sites in cooperation with other companies. If you register at these "co-branded" sites, we have the right to share your registration information (such as name and email address) with that company.

Flicklist reserves the right, but has no obligation, to monitor the User Content you post on the Website. Flicklist has the right to remove any such information or material for any reason or no reason, including without limitation, if in its sole opinion, such information or material violates, or may violate, any applicable law or our Terms of Use Agreement or to protect or defend its rights or property or those of any third party. Flicklist also reserves the right to remove information upon the request of any third party.

We use cookies, clear gifs, and log file information for many reasons, including for example, to: (a) remember information so that you will not have to re-enter it during your visit or the next time you visit the Website; (b) provide custom, personalized content and information; (c) monitor the effectiveness of our service; (d) monitor aggregate metrics such as total number of visitors and traffic; (e) diagnose or fix technology problems reported by our users or engineers that are associated with the IP addresses controlled by a specific web company or ISP; and (f) help you efficiently access your information after you sign in.

How We Share Your Information

Personally Identifiable Information: Flicklist has the right to share your personally identifiable information with third parties for the purpose of providing services to you. Non-Personally Identifiable Information: We have the right to share and sell non-personally identifiable information (such as anonymous usage data, referring/exit pages and URLs, platform types, number of clicks, etc.) with interested third parties in our determination.

Flicklist has the right to allow other companies, called third-party ad servers or ad networks, to serve advertisements on the Flicklist Website. These third-party ad servers or ad networks use technology to send, directly to your device, the advertisements and links that appear on Flicklist. They automatically receive your IP address when this happens. They may also use other technologies (such as cookies, JavaScript, or Web Beacons) to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements and to personalize the advertising content.

Flicklist will not provide any personally identifiable information to third-party ad servers or ad networks without your consent. However, please note that if an advertiser asks Flicklist to show an advertisement to a certain audience and you respond to that advertisement, the advertiser or ad-server may conclude that you fit the description of the audience they are trying to reach.

You should consult the respective privacy policies of these third-party ad servers or ad networks. The Flicklist privacy policy does not apply to, and we cannot control the activities of, such advertisers and their use of information you provide to them.

How We Protect Your Information

Flicklist uses commercially reasonable physical, managerial, and technical safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of your personal information. We cannot and do not, however, ensure, guarantee or warrant the security of any information you transmit to Flicklist and it is possible that your personal information may be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards. You agree that you provide your personal information to Flicklist at your own risk.

An important element of our safeguards to protect your personal information is verification of your identity before granting you access to your account via a unique password. You are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your unique password and account information, and for controlling access to your email communications from Flicklist, at all times.

Compromise of Personal Information

If personal information of Users is compromised as a result of a breach of security, Flicklist will promptly upon learning of and analyzing the breach, notify those persons whose personal information has been compromised, in accordance with the notification procedures set forth in this Privacy Policy, or as otherwise required by applicable law.

Your Choices About Your Information

You may access or change your information and preferences at any time in your My Account area once you have signed in with your personal password. For example, you can control which actions, if any, will appear on your update feed, whether to display your email address, whether to display your last name, and what sort of email notifications you will receive from the Service. You may, of course, decline to submit personally identifiable information through Flicklist, in which case Flicklist may not be able to provide certain services to you.

Children's Privacy

Protecting the privacy of young children is especially important. For that reason, Flicklist does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to register. If you are under 13, please do not send any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, or email address. No one under age 13 is allowed to provide any personal information to or on Flicklist. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us.

We are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our Website nor the information or content contained therein.
